The Associated Press reports the news the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday have placed their closer Wade Davis on the 15 day disabled list with a strain of his right forearm
The Royals have designated for assignment left handed pitcher Tyler Olsen to make room for right handed pitcher Brooks Pounders from their AAA minor league team the Omaha Storm Chasers.
Davis has a pitching record of one win and no losses with an earned run average of 1.23 with 19 saves in 30 relief pitching appearances during the 2016 baseball season.
The Royals are likely to promote from his setup role right handed pitcher Kelvin Herrera to replace Davis as the closer of the defending World Series champions who are currently in third place in the American League Central Division seven games behind the division leaders the Cleveland Indians as of baseball games played on Monday.
