Do you think selling used books is a good business ?

I knew that many people are selling used books in many other countries and they do make some money from it. However, does it take a lot of efforts to do so is my concern about this business. Where will you get your old used books and how would you send it to the used book store since it was so heavy. If your answer is do a side walk sell, then it may only work in your own country. If you have to pay for the shipping and end up the book store don't want it, then you lost money and probably you have to bring those books back or throw it to the nearby garbage can. Selling on ebay ? Quite a headache !

I don't really think it is a good business and so I would look for something else.

@wildlittlefan Right now I am retired and I try to live within my pension and so am happy to do other things besides working to earn money, like volunteer work.

@1hopefulman Good for you. As long as you can enjoy life and already have a pension, that's great .
Enjoy your life.

Selling used books can be moderately profitable if you are careful to charge reasonable prices but you should start with the realisation that nobody (except very large volume businesses) ever got rich quickly that way!
The most important thing is to restrict yourself to selling books on subjects that you are interested in and know something about because only then can you begin to be aware of what will sell and what will not. Most second-hand booksellers began by collecting books and then progressed to selling their surplus stock.

I have thought about selling books online. The books I mostly get are from a friend so I return them to her afterwards. I do have some of my own but have not done it yet.

Instead of selling donate books. I have a collection of many books if someone interested can send me his used books.
