The number one seed, Serena Williams easily beat Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-0 in the semi-finals of the Ladies' Singles at Wimbledon. The unseeded Elena Vesnina is ranked 50th in the world for singles (her doubles ranking is much better). Vesnina had her best ever result at Wimbledon to make it through to the semi-finals; in fact, it's her best ever result in any major. Her ranking should climb as a result.
Now to see if Serena will be facing her older sister Venus in the final, as the latter goes up against the better-seeded Angelique Kerber.

It was basically Serena cruising past a Cinderella who better at doubles. I think everyone wants that Williams sisters finals showdown.

@JohnRoberts I was hoping it would be but I think nerves got the better of Venus. It's been so long since she got close to a Wimbledon final that she must have wanted it really badly.
Actually we might get a better match this way because matches between the two sisters were often rather one-sided.
