Steve Adams reported the news on Friday the Pittsburgh Pirates have called up outfielder and first baseman Josh Bell, 23, from their AAA minor league team the Indianapolis Indians.
Bell will replace right handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the Pirates 25 man roster. Glasnow was sent back to the Indianapolis Indians after he was called up from the minor leagues on Thursday.
The likely scenario is that Bell will only stay in the Major Leagues for the weekend series versus the Chicago Cubs which will end on Sunday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania..
The Pirates needed the services of Bell as a reserve player role before the Major League Baseball All Star Game on July 12, 2016 in San Diego California.

Perhaps a little showcase for Bell as trade bait?

Perhaps that might be true if the Pirates are not in playoff contention.
