Susan Slusser reports the news the defending World Series champions Kansas City Royals are interested in making a trade with the Oakland Athletics for the services of outfielder Josh Reddick who can become a free agent at the end of the 2016 baseball season.
Since the Athletics are not in contention to make the playoffs this year, they could trade Reddick to a team that is contention to make the playoffs like the San Fransisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals and the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for minor league players to the Athletics to build up their franchise in the near future according to Slusser.
The Royals would love to have the addition of Reddick on their team since they are in contention to make a playoff run as a wild card entry to join outfielders Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain when both players return from the injury list before the end of the 2016 baseball season.

The A's have to move Reddick now or else get nothing in return if they allow him to exit via free agency.

One other option the A's have to get him a qualifying offer and if he refuses the A's get a draft choice from any team that gets him as a restricted free agent.
