Marc Stein reports the news on Sunday the Miami Heat have signed former Toronto Raptors forward James Johnson, 29, to a one year, $4 million dollar contract.
Johnson who was a first round draft choice of the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 National Basketball Association Draft out of Wake Forest has played in the league with the Bulls, Raptors on two occasions, the Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzles.
Johnson became a free agent at the end of the 2015-16 basketball season. The Heat needed his services since they are not sure if forward Chris Bosh will be able to play basketball for a full season due to recent injuries and illnesses that have shortened his playing time recently.
Johnson will be getting some playing time behind Justise Winslow during the 2016-17 basketball season.

Pat Riley is using the money he didn't spend in Wade and spreading it around collecting free agents to create depth.

I do not blame him for letting Dee Wade go if he wanted a huge salary to stay.

Pat Riley is a winner as an executive with the Heat.
