Bill Baer reports the news former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim right handed relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen who was designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins on July 3, 2016 was released by the team on Monday.
Jepsen had a pitching record of two wins and five losses in 33 relief appearances with seven saves but with an earned run average of 6.16 during the 2016 baseball season.
Since there was no team in the Major Leagues that was willing to pick him up off waivers, Jepsen will be hitting the free agent market starting on Monday.
The team that signs Jepsen to a contract will pay him the minimum wage since the Twins will be paying the majority of his $5.3125 million dollar contract.
Jepsen started his career in the Major Leagues in 2008 with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015 before he was traded by the Rays to the Twins on July 31, 2015 in exchange for minor league pitchers Chih-Wei Hu and Alexis Tapia.
I will bet you the Twins are red faced that they gave up two pitching prospects for the services of Jepsen who will likely be signed by another team in the Major Leagues to pitch for their minor league team later this year.

Wow. I remember when Jepsen was good with the Angels and I thought it was a mistake trading hum away. Two seasons later... He will be picked up as he is just 31 and had a decent season last year.

I wish I could have a job that pays me a huge salary like a sports star. But I am happy writing fan fictions.
