Our Dessert for Today

Avocado with milk and sugar. Avocado is one of the fruits I love. Since it is a seasonal fruit, I make sure to get one or two when it comes out. And since the fruit is in season these days, it is a little affordable. I was able to get 5 pieces for 25 pesos yesterday. They are already ripe and should be eaten soon. I love to add milk to my avocado. Condensed milk is the best for me but if powdered milk is the only milk available, I add sugar. I prepared our dessert a while ago and I put it inside the freezer. Do you like this fruit? What do you do with your avocado? Sometimes we make avocado smoothie.

The whole world will find us Filipino weird because we are one of the few countries that uses it as dessert. Majority of the countries around the world uses it for spicy and savory dishes. Americans and mexicans uses it for guacamole a spicy green sauce they use for nachos and hotdogs. Australians puts it in sandwiches with ham and cheese. The japanese puts it in sushi and crockets. The only other country that uses avocado for dessert are Vietnam and Singapore. Americans will be creeped out of the idea of using avocado as dessert as it is fat free mayonaise for them.

@brokenbee If you accidentally open an unripe avocado, You can slice them into sticks, bread them like a fried chicken and fry it. I swear it is like a creamy french fry.

Yes, it's one of my favorites . I have it since Sunday night because my brother-in-law brought a lot from where he resides and work on weekdays . I eat it by just putting some brown sugar . It is so delicious already that way .

@brokenbee Yeah i am envious too of those who have this tree and have lots of fruits . Avocados can be so expensive sometimes . I love avocados , specially the one we call "pulutan" meaning so sticky or creamy , even if the color of the peel is still green , yet it is ready to be eaten . SO yummy , this kind of avocado .

@SIMPLYD hmmmm I like that too but usually, I get the purple ones because I am not sure if I will get that variety that it's already ripe even if it's still green.

@sunrisefan Hmmmm I think that's the result if you scrape it too much near its skin or maybe it is not yet fully ripe.

@brokenbee The problem with avocado shake (which I like too) is that there's a bitter aftertaste.

I like avocados but they are not native here. We never eat them as sweets but only as savoury dishes such as on toast, with salad, or in stuffed vegetables. I'll have to try sweet versions!
