The three bowls have different types of sauces. Dosa is not like a loaf of bread. You make it from a batter of soaked rice and black lentils. The batter is made into pancakes with some stuffing of smashed potatoes and onions and served with these chutneys/sauce

@hereandthere The yellow one is smashed potatoes seasoned with curry leaves, dried red chillies and mustard seeds. The white one is coconut paste mixed with curd and garnished with the same ingredients. The third is vegetables boiled in pulses and tamarind pulp and then garnished.

The beauty of America is its diversity and especially when it comes to food. Almost anywhere you can travel in the country you can probably find a place that represents. Some shopping malls have food courts which is like a bunch of small restaurants all in one location, and you can pick a cuisine … Chinese, Indian, Italian, American, etc. I like to try Indian cuisine, but I cook at home. I don't usually eat out at an Indian restaurant. Your friend is setting up a restaurant in New York? WOW! That's ambitious. Wish them success!
