Are We Nearing Armageddon?

In the Bible, Matthew 24:21 says: “Then there will be great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.”
When Jesus spoke of this coming “great tribulation” he also foretold some of the evidence that would indicate what would be happening in the world.
He foretold that there would be international WAR, disease epidemics, food shortages and earthquakes “in one place after another.” He called these “a beginning of pangs of distress.”
So intense would the difficulties be that he said that there would be great “anguish of nations, not knowing the way out,” with people becoming “faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth.”
You can read about these things in the Bible at: Matthew 24:7, 8, 34; Luke 21: 10, 11, 25, 26 and Mark the 13th chapter.
The apostle Paul also wrote about this time period saying: “In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here…” He said men would be “without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong…” The prophecy also says that “wicked men and imposters will advance from bad to worse…” 2 Timothy 3: 1-5, 13
If we add to this the well-documented disintegration of family life and marriage, the increase in crime and violence, the enormous growth of drug abuse and alcoholism, it is very obvious that the very fiber of human society is breaking down.
There are about 60,000 nuclear warheads in arsenals around the world, with an explosive power far exceeding what was dropped on Hiroshima. Some of those weapons are so deadly that one bomb alone can wipe out a small country. Yes, for the first time in history, man is capable of annihilating most life on earth.
Do you think that world leaders are going to solve these problems? The Bible says: “Do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.” Psalms 146:3-6
So who should we trust to solve these problems? What do you think?
Read Proverbs 3:5, 6 This is where I put my trust.

That is definitely scary and worrisome. We can't trust anyone anymore. The leaders have their own vested interests. I don't understand the need to develop something as destructive as nuclear weapons.

There is no question in my mind that Armageddon is near @IreneVincent . The world is falling apart and since there is no common sense any more, leaders cannot be trusted.

I certainly agree with you about that.
