ESPN.com reports the news the Kansas City Royals who are the defending World Series champions on Saturday have activated from the 15 day disabled list right handed closer Wade Davis. Davis had been placed on the 15 day disabled list on July 1, 2016 with a strain on his right forearm. The good news is that Davis was able to return to the Royals roster as soon as he is eligible since he is one of their most valuable players on the team with a pitching record of one win and no losses with an earned run average of 1.23 with 19 saves in 30 save chances. To make room for Davis on the Royals 25 man roster, the Royals demoted right handed pitcher Brooks Pounders to their AAA minor league team the Omaha Storm Chasers on Saturday. The Detroit Tigers are hosting the Royals for the second of a three game series at Comerica Park in Detroit this weekend. Kelvin Herrera who was the closer for the Royals during the time period when Davis was on the disabled list will return to his set up relief role.

Davis is a premiere closer and part of KC's lock down relief corps.

Wade is one of the best relief pitchers I have seen in the Major Leagues recently.
