It is so unlike me to let six days pass since my last post! I truly can't believe it, but life gets in the way, especially during summer. I did try to catch up on notifications, but only had a bit of WiFi Friday evening and Sunday morning.
I had a special education pool party with some of my former staff and friends last Wednesday. What fun that was!
We have three friends who each are fortunate to own beach houses on the ocean or bay in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Usually we stay for a week in a hotel, as we've done several times in the past, and once spent a long weekend at the home of one of these couples.
Thursday evening we received an invite from another couple to join them for a week at their seaside home. We left early Friday morning and returned home around noon today. My husband had a dentist appointment. Drat! All we did was sun, swim in the ocean, eat, shop, whale watch cruise, and party! What wonderful friends we have! Too bad they have no internet at their fabulous home. Our son took care of Doodles, thank goodness.
Would you vacation at the spur of the moment?

Sure would as long as I have a doggie sitter. We popped down to the cottage and next week up to Quebec. I did get an invite to visit my brother in Vermont so that will be after that some time.

@DianneN Yes, I think that at the moment that is wisest, there is new violence every day.

That sounds and looks like a good time.
We used to go away every long weekend during the warmer months, but now its harder to get away with the jobs that we have. But someday there won't be jobs so every weekend will be a long weekend won't it?

I had so much fun with the young girls from school, but we also had a blast with our dear friends at the Cape. We used to travel every school vacation I had during the school year and there used to be three long ones. The long weekends were always spent with our kids. Retirement leaves us free as birds now! I'm sure you and your husband will be looking forward to a happy, carefree retirement when your time comes, too.

Great way to get away from the internet, I miss my friends from the real world who although have vacation homes and ever some live on the beach are still communicating mostly on FB and email and not using what they have really. I spent several days in heck and today is somewhat better.

What a fun picture! That's a lot of booze! My husband's aunt used to own a house on Cape Cod, near West Falmouth. We used to spend a week there every summer when our kids were growing up. Lot's of good memories!

@DianneN - Ha Ha! What would our summers have been without at least one trip to the Sundae House?! My husband's aunt's house was on Chapaquoit Island. It was a fabulous place, because our kids felt so free to run around by themselves.

Happy for you.
Such times with friends pep up our lives like nothing else can.
I have few such moments and cherish them.
I too will not be posting for a while as I will be away from home for nearly a month but will partake in some interactions though - siva
