Whoops! I forgot!

This last Tuesday hubby came home from work and we set off to visit some friends. We had planned a hot dog roast and an ice cream tasting. The car was loaded up with all sorts of ice cream flavors. I couldn't wait for that sugar high. But I digress. Ahem. Halfway to our destination, hubby turns to me and says, "Happy Anniversary!" Oh. Yeah. That's today. It had been on the calendar so I knew it was coming but when the day finally came, I totally spaced it. I usually do. But he always remembers. Because he's cool like that. Normally we don't do anything on our anniversary. I know. That probably sounds sacrilegious. But with 6 kids and no babysitter we're sort-of stuck. However, next year our eldest will legally be able to babysit so we'll probably take advantage of the situation and go out on a real date. 13 years. We've been married 13 years now. And the time has just flown by! Feels like we've been together forever. In a good way. So I just wanted to give a belated shout-out to my wonderful hubby: He works hard so I can stay home and home school the kids. He kills all the Spider Assassins that invade our home. He does all the chores when I'm too lazy to clean and orders pizza when I can't bear to stand over the hot stove. He cleans vomit, lets me sleep in, walks the dog he didn't want, and fixes the projects that I don't know how to finish. Nobody else could deal with the poo I fling him, when I get in my funky moods. Which is often. We were definitely meant for each other. And now that I have him, he can never, ever escape! Mwahahahaha! No, really. I love you hubby. You're the best.

13 years and six kids... Holy crap it is possible in this day and age... This world has lied to me.

@Hanyouyomi The Duggars are a family who have 19 kids and all the kids have "J" names. They're often in the media and they're either loved or hated. Yeah, hubby and I decided from the get-go that no matter how hard things got, we wouldn't give up on each other. The "D" word is not part of our vocabulary. Thankfully, we don't disagree on much. Or maybe he's just learned to give when I get moody...

And none of them twins! Hey, we're not as bad as the Duggars...yet.

@Genipher Who are the Duggars? Plus I'm glad y'all have maintained a 13 year marriage and a happy one. From what I keep seeing people can't manage two to five years... Though that might be a severe minority..._

Happy anniversary. He sounds like a keeper that's not easily offended (that ranks high in my book). It's cool you homeschool your kids, by the way. My lovely mother homeschooled me from sixth grade until I graduated high school.

He is SO much more patient than I am. When I start to lose my cool, he quickly reminds me of who we are in Christ...Can I blame my impatience on my red hair? Thanks! I love having them home and schooling them, here. They're pretty far ahead in their studies and they're looking forwards to graduating early and getting good p/t jobs when they're "of age". Our two eldest kiddos just had to take their state tests. Our daughter took the 5th grade test and scored an average of 99%. Our son took the 3rd grade test and scored an average of 95%. Both scores put them in the top 1% of students, nation-wide! Brag, brag, brag!! I guess we're doing something right.

@Genipher It's great to hear that they're excelling. (High five Team Homeschool.) I also found it academically beneficial. Plus, I didn't develop most of my strange behavior patterns until many years after homeschooling--I was normal back then.

@puddleglum I hated public school. I used to be my mom to home school me but although she was a stay-at-home wife (she did daycare) she said she wasn't "qualified". I was pretty introverted until I met my hubby and had kids. I blame it on public school. My kids, on the other hand, will go up to random strangers and talk their ears off!

Every year I laugh at myself for forgetting. We definitely don't fit the standard stereotype of a hubby and wife!

Hmm, he seems to be more understanding (loving, too) than a priest! Of course, don't let him escape! Men (I know because I am a man) would never let their "missus" down and always remain faithful, loving, caring (and many more) if we get what we want!

I wanna say you're so lucky to have him. A keeper, a hardworker, etc etc. But then he's also lucky to have a nuts-of-a-lovely Christian ginger like you. Happy anniversary!

Oh my ...I shouldn't have chose this one to open. I have a quilt retreat Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hubby is making me feel guilty enough as Saturday is our 5th anniversary. Sigh....hopefully he can be ok with taking me out Sunday evening instead once my retreat is over.
