I was just hired as a believe it or not a shorthand instructor for an online teaching site. I start training in two weeks to learn how to setup my online classroom. I learned shorthand during high school and believe or not I used this skill through college and graduate school. What do you guys think of this skill?

Back in high school, shorthand was taught as one of our electives. I wasn't a fan at all. I know that shorthand writing comes in handy. Good for you that you translated this skill into an actual source of income. Good luck!

I am not sure that with completing my dissertation as well as this new job that I will not be able to write for the seven sites so I am going to continue writing short pieces for Niume.com if you are interested in reading more of my writing.

Good for you. Never learned shorthand. Wish I had. I'm surprised it's still being taught.

I just learned about this site about one week ago and thought I would give it a try. I liked in high school and used it in college and graduate school. I do not think high schools are teaching it because of all the voice activated media and equipment in the office.

@marky7 No, but all one need with short hand is a pen or pencil and paper. And patience. And know-how.

Congratulations! Excited? I have never learned about shorthand writing at all. I am a fast writer but, with fast writing comes massive headache. I have a poor penmanship.

Do you know shorthand and believe it or not it is a skill that can be used by anyone not just the office secretaries.
