Caddyshack is the story of Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe,) a caddy at Bushwood Country Club, run by uptight Judge Smails (Ted Night.) Danny is trying to earn money for college, carrying golf clubs for millionaires such as eccentric Ty Webb (Chevy Chase, ) and attempting to score the caddy scholarship by winning the annual caddy tournament.
Meanwhile, brash newcomer Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield) is constantly getting under Judge Smails' skin, and assistant groundskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is at war with a destructive gopher.
The laughs are many as the club falls into anarchy on a daily basis. The cast is top-notch, with great comic chemistry (legend has it that much of the dialogue might have been improvised. Especially the classic Chase/Murray scene. Word is that the two didn't like each other and planned the scene in advance in order to get it over with as quickly as possible.)
A few quotes to get you in the mood:
"Spaulding get your foot off the boat!"
"We have a pool. And a pond. The pond would be good for you."
"Hey Whitey, where's your hat?"
Probably the greatest golf movie ever made. It's a comedy classic.

You take Caddyshack over Caddyshack II or Billy Madison?

You mean Happy Gilmore? I thought it was really funny, and I don't even like Adam Sandler. But I'll still take Caddyshack.

When this came on TV in the UK it was the first time I had ever seen Rodney Dangerfield. He absolutely stole the movie.

He did, but the more I watch it,the more I think Ted Night is the funniest one in the movie.
