"Bait and Switch" TV ADS: Are They Legal?

Recently, in responding to another person, I wrote about ads on TV that literally SCREAM at you. I’m sure you know which ones I’m referring to.
The TV ads from FURNITURE stores here are so irritating. Day after day, these "screaming" ads tell people that these stores are "going out of business" and that they have marked down the prices of the furniture, to clear out their warehouse. One of them recently, said they were remodeling their warehouse and all the merchandise had to go.
How many times can they go out of business or remodel? Carpets and mattresses are also advertised that way. Just recently I saw an ad that said "$2,200 mattresses for $399." Who's kidding who now?
Why these ads are allowed to continue week after week, I can NOT understand. Anyone who has lived here for any time KNOWS that the ads are FALSE. Aren't false advertising and "bait and switch" ads outlawed?
“Bait and switch," of course, means that the ad entices you to come to the store and LOOK and then the salesman is trained to SWITCH your attention to another product with a higher price. I actually had a salesman say to me: “Oh you don’t want that mattress. Let me show you another one that is much nicer.” It was QUITE obvious what he was doing. And I thought “NO, I’m leaving this store.” The ad enticed me, but I could see through the salesman’s tactics.
Has this ever happened to you?
I immediately mute the TV when these "screaming" ads come on. The volume on these ads are actually increased, so they get your attention, and I despise that.

there's several chain companies here that do the same. one 'twas goin' outta business fer nearly 5 years if'n i recall correctly? a couple seemed to've gone, but nope - same folks runnin' 'em, jest under diff'rent names fer the business. shameful folks're allowed to do business's such.

Yes, sometimes they just change their names, but as you said, the same people are still running the business.
