Favorite Underrated Bands #2 - New Model Army

One of my all-time favorite bands ranks #2 on my Favorite Underrated Bands series, and rightly so. I'm talking about England's post-punk band New Model Army. Led by vocalist/guitarist Justin Sullivan (the band's only constant,) New Model Army formed in 1980. Despite a fervent, loyal following, the group has never quite gained mass appeal, especially here in the States, where they have a cult following at best (last time I saw them, there were maybe 75-100 people in the audience.) There are a couple of reasons. The band has, for the most part, always been highly political, making a living from protest songs, songs about class struggle, and tunes about small town England, none of which are very popular over here. They also were prevented from touring America for years (it was 15 years between the two times I've seen them.) I've always read that the reason being tthat the State Department was none too pleased that the video for the anti-Thatcher protest song "51st State" was filmed in front of the US Embassy in London, although this does not match Wikipedia's entry. Rather than going with "51st State," I've linked to "The Hunt," a more musically-powerful tune about a group of vigilantes going after a heroin dealer. The song was famously covered by metal band Sepultura.

Never heard of them but they are "old Fashioned" flat out rockers sort of leaning heavy metal Metallica.

They are a pretty musically diverse band, and they reproduce very well live. This one is pretty heavy.
