The Carpenters, Pani Poori Vendors, Dosa sellers, Launderers, Drivers and Cable T.V. Technicians are the new entrants to the list of MIDDLE CLASS in India. It is just because of the faster growth and higher intensity of work. In India, the lower middle is the one whose per capita consumption expenditure is between $2 and $4. There has been an interesting increase of the middle-class 2004-05 to 2011-12 from 28 per cent to 51 per cent. Coming to the size of this new middle class it has increased from 304 to 604 million according to the recent study. The study reports that in the case of lower middle-class everyone is having a cell phone, a phone, a television, a chair, 67 per cent access to electricity, steel utensils, and Gold jewellery. One should not forget that most of the Indian politicians are included in the list of BPL (BELOW POVERTY LINE) CATEGORY.
