Day 128 Psalm 128 Psalm 119:73 JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. 74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word. 75 I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. 76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant. 77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight. 78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts. 79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies. 80 Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. (KJV) One thing we all want is for people to think well of us. We don’t want to feel shame in anything we do, or be associated with people who act in deceitful ways. The psalmist acknowledged what God had done for him, creating him and fashioning him for his purpose. He acknowledged God’s judgments and testimonies were right and he was faithful to him in everything. He also asked God to bring shame on everyone who dealt defiantly with him. The psalmist spent his time meditating and taking delight in God’s laws, statutes, precepts, and commandments. He acknowledged he wasn’t alone in his delight of God’s laws, but all those who had respect for God were also his associates. His one request was for understanding of God’s Word so he could learn all he could. He also wanted God’s mercy directed towards him, and in doing so, knew he would have life. As Christians, we should take delight in God’s Word, acknowledging all he has done for us. When we do we will know God’s abundant grace, mercy, forgiveness, and blessing on our lives. We will see justice done to those who come against us, and we will never be ashamed of our position in Christ Jesus. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Is God’s Word your delight? Have you acknowledged all he has done for you? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me your Word, which is my delight. Help me to give you praise and thanksgiving for all you have done for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 25 July 2016 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
