Evan Grant reports the news the Texas Rangers are interested in making a trade with the Kansas City Royals before the Major League Baseball trade deadline on July 31, 2016 for the services of their right handed starting pitcher Edinson Volquez.
Volquez can become a free agent at the end of the current baseball season. The Rangers who are currently in first place in the American League West Division need the services of Volquez due to the injuries to their starting pitchers Derek Holland and Colby Lewis who are currently on the disabled list.
A report from Jon Morosi said the Rangers are also interested in making a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies for the services of their starting right handed pitcher Vince Velasquez but they are not willing to part with a lot of their minor league players to acquire Velasquez via the trade route before the deadline.
The catch is that the Royals who are the defending World Series champions are not willing to trade their valuable players at this time since they are currently in third place in the American League Central Division six games out of a wild card berth.

I don't see the Royals throwing in the towel even though 6 games out.

I seriously doubt the Royals have any plans to trade Volquez at this time. It appears that the media in the Dallas area is having some wishful thinkers.
