Today wanted to pay the Income Tax dues. Took a print out of the demand and filled the challan form from the I.T., Department. They verified the challan that I had filled up and asked me to pay the amount in the State Bank of India, adjacent to Parishram Bhavan, Basheerbagh. When I went the State Bank of India and handed over the challan they verified it from the computer with reference to the PAN No. and said that their system is showing the number as invalid. I was shocked. I asked them to verify the PAN No. they have typed. He showed it to me. It was typed correctly . But, my Number was not accepted. So, they returned the challan and the amount and to approach the I.T Dept., for further course of action. But, I.T. Dept., has not answered properly. I went to Andhra Bank and handed over the Challan. They asked me to come after an hour. When I went there after an hour they completed the work and handed over the counterfoil. I still could not understand why in one Bank the amount was rejected and in another Bank, it was accepted? Do you have any idea? I want to contact the I.T. Dept., in this regard.
