The Associated Press reports the news on Tuesday the Texas Rangers have designated for assignment right handed starting pitcher 37 year old Kyle Lohse. Lohse was signed to a minor league contract by the Texas Rangers as a free agent on May 13, 2016. Lohse made his Rangers debut on July 10 when he pitched five innings giving up six earned runs in a loss versus the Minnesota Twins. Lohse had a pitching record of no wins and two losses with an earned run average of 12.54 in nine innings pitched for the Rangers during the 2016 baseball season. The Rangers will replace Lohse on their 25 man active roster by promoting from their AAA minor league team the Round Rock Express right handed pitcher Nick Martinez. Martinez, 25, will replace Lohse as the Rangers starting pitcher on Tuesday when the Rangers host the Oakland Athletics at Globe Life Park in Arlington Texas. Lohse if he is not claimed by another team in the Major Leagues has the option of either entering the free agent market or returning to the Rangers minor league system within the next ten days.

Looks like the end of the line for the veteran pitcher.

I agree with you guys, sounds like it is the end of his baseball career, most likely.
