Who Killed "Stonewall Jackson?"

First of all, who WAS “Stonewall Jackson?” His birth name was Thomas Jonathan Jackson and he was a Confederate general during the American Civil War. I was interested in knowing more about him for three specific reasons. First, I enjoy reading about the Civil War and I now live in the area where much of the Civil War was fought. Secondly, I recently found out that he was born in the same county that I was born. In fact, he was born, just a few miles from where I was born 117 years later. Thirdly, Stonewall Jackson was mistakenly shot by his own troops, at the Battle of Chancellorsville. He then had to have his arm amputated. Then he died from infection, like thousands of other soldiers, during the Civil War. This is what I was talking about concerning bacterial infections in the 19th century, when no one understood that bacteria even existed. Surgical tools were not sanitized and rarely did a surgeon bother to wash his hands. But, now, even though doctors know about bacteria and hospitals are meant to be sterile, bacteria-free environments, thousands of people STILL die from bacterial infections, mostly because of CARELESSNESS. Hospitals are dangerous places to be. Sick or well, you should be very conscious of that fact. I will write more about “Stonewall Jackson” later. There is a FASCINATING story about his ancestry. You will LOVE it.

Interesting story about Stonewall Jackson. It must have been a great lost for his own troops. I imagine many militar people sometimes face the same fate, when fighting in the middle of two fronts. I don´t like to go to hospitals due to the bacteria that abound there. I sometimes pass by a hospital while riding the bus and the thought of imagining the kinds of germs there really frightens me.
