I Edited A Picture And Couldn't Find It

I had a topic in mind and found a picture in my computer to attach to it.
I edited it online using Pixlr Express, then saved it to my computer.
But now that I'm ready to write my post, I can't find the picture!
I went to My Documents and opened all the folders one by one, including the Dropbox folder.
Not there.
I clicked Start, then Search, then Pictures in case my eyes missed it.
Still nothing!
I even tried searching for answers online and found an article about how to check my computer's history.
I followed the instructions: Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, but once I saw the results, I had no idea what to do with it.
Feeling down, but still hopeful, I thought about asking mylotters with computer know-how.
As I scrolled down the folders one last time, I saw the Recycle Bin. Could it be?
Obviously, yes. I guess I accidentally clicked it along with the other files I was deleting. Whew!
No wonder the picture never showed up in the search because the Recycle Bin is not part of/separate from My Documents. Duh!
Plus, I should have been open-minded enough to consider all possibilities, like a slip of the fingers or mouse that accidentally sends files and folders elsewhere.
Have you ever "lost" anything in your computer, found them, but don't remember or understand how it ended up there?

Yes, I did have that happen when I tried to save a Pixabay picture to my computer. I couldn't find it and when I saved it again, it said I already had it, but I couldn't find it. I still haven't. No, it's not in the recycle bin. I'm glad you were able to find your picture.

good thing it came from pixabay. at least you can go back to the site and search for it again.

I lost a first chapter to a potential novel. Thought it was gone forever. I rewrote the chapter years later using the same premise and idea. Big surprise I stumbled across the old one in a forgotten file. They're the same as far as plot goes. Outside of that they are completely different.

@massey - You might benefit from having a "file recovery program" installed on your computer. It works to bring back "erased" files from the residuals on a hard drive or on a "thumb drive" or other temporary storage facility. I wiped out all of the images I had stored on a thumb drive along with a gazillion text files, etc., and brought them all back for use with this program. It is named, "Recuva" and you can get a free download from SourceForge dot net. Good program to have when you need it.

Oh. Been there.
That's why I'm very careful of saving my files since then.

All the time, that is why I try to look at where it is every time I save something. PC's are sneaking at where they store files.

i've become complacent that it's always in the downloads folder.

Yeah most of the time though it's because I can't recall the file name.
In cases like that even rummaging through the recycle bin wouldn't help.

but where could they have gone? i've always felt that with computers and the internet, most stuff are recoverable - unlike, you know, socks. seriously, i hope people you know who are quite techy can help you find those pictures.

Something similar occurred to me. I was looking for something I couldn“t find anywhere; finally, the file ended up in the recycle bin.
