Do you have friends who are left-hand users? Of course, occasionally these people also use their right hand. But, perform most of the important things like writing, lifting the articles, wearing , getting on to the things etc., using left hand only. Amazingly, their parents and other kith and kin seem as right-handers. So, what makes them lefthanded? Is it genetic or is it a habit that has developed from childhood parents not paying proper attention to their childhood activities. A study paper reveals that most of these left-handed people are more intelligent and sharp. Is it right? There are also some studies that reveal and stamp them cruel.

I am lefthanded and it makes no difference in intelligence or whatever. For some reason, society has always insisted on being righthanded and children who began as lefties were broken to be a rightie.

In my parent's time and culture, lefties were always corrected. My dad suspects he may have been a lefty originally as he finds that he has better strength in his left hand to do certain things.

@much2say My father was a lefty but I don't know if that has any bearing on my being one. One thing is for certain: if you are a professional baseball player who is a lefthanded pitcher, there is greater demand for your services thus financial reward.

@JohnRoberts Yep - the baseball thing sure is true! Other than my dad possibly being a lefty, I am the only lefty in the family. In fact out of all my cousins too, I am the only lefty. I don't know about genetics, but surely we might all just have our tendencies . . . we just happen to prefer using our left hands.

I am left handed - and I have a few friends who are left handed as well. Many of us can use both left and right hand for certain tasks - because lefties often have to deal with the right handed world ways (righties rarely have to think about it). I do think many of us are better problem solvers because of that. But I don't think the hand we use is a tell tale sign of intelligence or personality or any of things at all.

@shivamani10 Really? But I can think of right handed folks who are shrewd as well. There are shrewd people regardless of what hand they use.

I am lefthanded. I don´t think that I´m specially cruel, but I have a high IQ. Napoleon, Da vinci and other such people were lefthanded.

I'm left handed, honestly I'm ambidextrous, there are things I do with my left hand and things I can do with my right and there are things I can do with both comfortably but my dominant hand is the the left which does more things.

I write with my left hand but do most other things right-handed. I think that it may be genetic because I've got a cousin who is left-handed too.

I don't know why some people are left handed but I don't believe it has anything to do with intelligence or I don't believe they are cruel. I know one lady who is left handed and she is neither. She's just a kindly lady.
