Why does it seem people lately don't want their pets?? Every day I swear I have one person asking me if I want their cat or dog. I just don't get it. I often help re home but it just makes me upset with how disposable animals are lately. These are supposed to be a family member not just a fling. Makes me upset.

My personal opinion is that some people are having difficult times financially (and everyone knows -- or, maybe I should say should know -- that pets are quite an investment!) and they're deciding between food for themselves or their pets. I think that some of it, however, is just incompetency: people get a puppy that's "cute" then two months later don't want it. It's not a CD that you can enjoy for a month then store away on a shelf. It's a lifelong commitment. I understand and share your frustration.

You are right. I know someone who bought a dog because he saw how fun I had with my dog. Me and the dog played with that boy at public gardens, we walked the dog and that boy bought a small dog for himself. His dad was very ill from diabetes (a problem with sugar levels) and couldn't help taking care of the dog. The boy's mother was fat and she already worked hard taking care of the kids and her husband. The dog grew up and most of the time it is just tied next to their door, having no fun and that's a waste of life. Looking at your avatar, I'm sure you like your dog and treat him like a human being. Do you ?

May be they feel that they are not able to take good care of their pets so letting them go is better option. There can be positive side to it.
