Do you think the unemployment rate is reflecting the real situation of your city or your country ?

I don't know how does the government do its statistic for the unemployment rate but sometimes, I would doubt about the real figure such statistic. Especially when it says that the unemployment rate is low. If so, they won't be so many people still living in a hungry and poverty style. What do you think ? Share with us ?

unemployment is equals to poverty because they don't have money to buy their needs. The economy of a country is not doing that great because the ordinary people can't feel it. Only Rich people benefitted when they say that economy is doing well.

Yes, we do need money to survive in this world. It would be nice if we can live in a place where their currency is just shells from the beach or from the sea. (I saw an island and they really live like that). However, we are living in country where you just need money for everything. So it is hard to live like that and people always looking for more when their living standard is so high such as what we have in Hong Kong. Almost everyone who owns a tiny apartment is an millionaire even though they are not rich at all . Why ? Just because the land is not enough and we are over populated in this city. Since everything is so expensive in here and in order to have a better living for the family, everyone works 9-10 hours per day and 6 days per week to earn more money. It is just a crazy situation in here while people are getting use to it.

@wildlittlefan that's the sad truth. People have to workhard to live in a comfortable life, to buy there needs and wants. It's so sad that many people are not contented even they are living in a luxurious life. They want everything. But in the other side, there are many people starving.

In my opinion, partly, it does. If companies are hot hiring then it means they are investing more. Or applicants dont have enough skills to get the job.

In the US, the government "cooks" the numbers to reflect a positive unemployment number and does not reflect the unemployed who have given up seeking work that not exist. The true unemployment rate in the US is far greater than the official number.

Most gov't reports embellish their statistics to present to the public. Number of people employed probably includes those who are underemployed, part time and seasonal workers.

Whatever the statistics will show us, I believe that if we take time to observe successful people, they don't need statistics for them to take action. It is still us who will make the necessary action to make something happen for our good. We don't need to become employees to success. What if we can become employers by starting our own business. Many people are lazy to think of ways and means to become successful. Our government can do so much for its people. Therefore, it would be for our best interest to stand up in our feet and accept the responsibility of making success happen to our lives instead of waiting for employment. What do you think?

I think the government has its own responsibility to solve the problem and so does the people need to do something by themselves as well.
