ESPN.com reported the news on Saturday the San Francisco Giants have activated from the 15 day disabled list outfielder Hunter Pence. Pence had been on the 15 day disabled list since June 2, 2016 with a strain of his right hamstring which required surgery. To make room for Pence on the Giants 25 man active roster, the Giants designated for assignment infielder Ramiro Pena on Saturday. Pence is one of the most valuable players on the Giants roster. The Giants are currently in first place in the National League West Division one game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pence will return to the starting lineup this weekend as the Giants are hosting the Washington Nationals at A T & T Park. Pence was playing baseball in a rehabilitation assignment with the Sacramento River Cats when he was promoted to the parent team on Saturday. Pena would be able to return to the Giants minor league system if within ten days there is no team in the Major Leagues that will claim him off waivers.

The Giants desperately need Pence's bat as they have been badly slumping as of late.
