It's an exciting time for baseball fans...the trade deadline! While I keep one eye on the trade rumors crawling at the bottom of MLB's Saturday night game I'll post another one of my favorite songs with "run" in the title.
#5: Run Runaway - Slade
How's that for a curve ball? Hillbilly likes a hard rock song!
And let's face it, this is one of the super cool songs of the early 80s. The band that wrote "Come on Feel the Noize" (which was a hit for Quiet Riot) had their own hit, thanks to one of the goofiest videos on MTV at the time (ranking right, ahem, "up there" with "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats).
Well, the video certainly didn't hurt. The song itself is a lot of fun. In the days of preachy and political songs Slade gave us a song that let us simply feel good and sing along to. Sometimes people forget that aspect of rock and roll. I'm glad Slade didn't.
Plus, you just have to love a band with a lead singer named Noddy Holder!
