tsu Has Gone

Well, it looks like the tsu social networking site has been shut down. This morning the layout had changed; now I've tried to access the site and all there is is a message saying that it has gone dark. Which would seem to mean that it has permanently gone. They say that anyone who reached the payment threshold ($100) will be paid, but that seems to mean that everyone below it is going to be out of pocket. Which could be quite a bit of cash. I had hoped that this site was going to last, but it looks like it hasn't, despite having millions of users.

It's a very curious statement which Sebastian has put out on the Tsu site. He doesn't say that Tsu has closed down - instead he says "You are probably wondering about the new layout but in fact we have taken tsu dark." That clearly implies that he doesn't intend to close the site and, in fact, he goes on to state that outstanding committments will be honoured and that, in the next few days, a button will be added to allow people to download their content. There is no indication of why Tsu has gone offline but an oblique reference to "royalties of music streaming services" and "business models of established platforms" (Facebook and Instagram both banned the posting of Tsu links) might offer a clue. In fact, it is highly likely that the 'established platforms' put pressure on Tsu, either directly or indirectly on the issue of royalties for music.

Yes, as explanations go, it doesn't really explain much.

It's a shame to see another site go, but the earnings were slow and the payout was high. Such is life sometimes.

It's increasing my opinion that, to succeed online, you need your own stuff. Whether this be a site or other material, depending on others doesn't seem to be working that well.

I wasn't earning much from it, but it was nice to earn a few pennies for promoting my own stuff. Although it looks like I now haven't earned those pennies.

@skysnap I was making about that each month. I was hoping to build up my network to earn more (because I could never get active enough to earn anything purely on my own efforts).

I think the high payout level and the low amount of points per post probably killed it. I was there for a while and realized it might take years to cash out so I bailed.

The true power came from the network. If you could get lots of people below you earning tiny amounts (I didn't) that's when you could earn something decent. Otherwise I was (although now it seems I wasn't) earning more from promoting my own stuff than I ever did on any of the other social sites.

Given know obscure the site was, I'm not surprised that it shut down. Especially if the site owner didn't have the means to pay every user to made the $100 quota.

I wouldn't have said it was that obscure. Maybe not up there with the big boys, but more well known than here for certain.

@Hanyouyomi The fact that everyone who earned less than $100 is, by the looks of it, out of luck does make you wonder.

@egdcltd Then it must've been the like of finances need to continue to pay users who made the $100 quota while maintaining the site...

It is sad. I was asked by some to join but I did not. It looks a wise decision - siva
