Do you believe that everyone deserves forgiveness?

They say 'Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace'. How much do you believe in this statement? How quickly do you forgive someone? Is there anyone who you haven't forgiven? I personally believe that everyone deserves forgiveness. When we can forgive ourselfs for doing something wrong, why not others? What do you have to say on this? What do you think or believe?

To forgive others is giving ourselves a peace of mind or inner piece. Sometimes it isn't easy to forgive and forget. Nothing is accomplished by harboring anger resentment it's negative energy.

Yeah, it is but people exaggerate things. They tend to overthink and put themselves into trouble. The result being that they harm themselves for someone else mistake.

Actually I find it harder to forgive myself than someone else. I just try to think it's none's fault, it's just human nature, then I forgive. It isn't easy but I agree with that statement, definitely. Just forgive and let it go, and take your time to do so. You can't live peacefully with ghosts around you, that's for sure.

Why do you find yourself harder to forgive? Yes, letting go is important. When you let go everything you free yourself from everything that might hurt you.

@hydraa When you hurt someone or just regret doing something, you get worried about your self-image and self-esteem and that is likely to torment you, especially when other people will keep on reminding you about what you did wrong.

@sabtraversa I have been in this situation. I know it hurts when they taunt every time. All I could do to make myself feel good is think that whatever happened was suppose to happen that way. It taught me, what I had to learn and move on. The people who remind you of your mistakes are the one who wants to see you fail, who wants to discourage you only because you are now doing better than them. It is also important to realize the mistake you have done but once you apologise from the bottom of your heart, never let anyone hurt you for the same.

I have never been the type of person to hold a grudge, but to state that everyone deserves forgiveness seems a little extreme. How can we forgive someone who commits mass murder or tortures children etcetera?

@hydraa I have to disagree because such acts are totally unforgivable.

@Asylum I understand you. But how does it matter if you forgive him or not? You will eventually forget everything after a while. You have your own life to be lived. And at the end of the day, the law will punish the accused. I hope you believe in Karma.

There is always a reason why people do such things. But in either way, you can't just live with all that hatred towards a person. For you to be at peace you, should either forgive them or let it go.

If I was deeply hurt, I will never forget and forgive the person.

I respect your decision. Everyone has their own way of thinking and doing things. But as it is said, holding a grudge is like letting someone live rent-free in your head.

No one "deserves" forgiveness. It is an act of mercy and grace on the part of the one who was wronged. It's hard for us to forgive because we can't forget. I'm so thankful, though that God forgave me and I have to forgive others.

It depends on the situation. If the damage is too deep to be healed by a simple "sorry" then it is not easy to forgive.

Yes, I believe it wouldn't be easy to forgive that quickly. But time heals everything and so does forgiveness.
