Pedro Moura reports the news on Tuesday the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have activated from the 60 day disabled list infielder Cliff Pennington.
Pennington had been on the 15 day disabled list since June 1, 2016 with a severe injury to his left hamstring.
Pennington will replace former right handed relief pitcher Joe Smith on the Angels 25 man roster. Smith was traded to the Chicago Cubs on Monday in exchange for pitching prospect Jesus Castillo.
The Angels will be hosting the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday at Angels Stadium in Anaheim California.
Both the Angels and Athletics are not in contention to make it to the playoffs this current baseball season.

Pennington adds depth but it doesn't really matter to the Angels at this point.

I know what you mean. It is a case of wait until next year like the Yankees are facing.
