Why are people afraid to express their faith and belief in God and the Bible with others?

Could it be fear of what others may say or think? Could it be because they have very little knowledge or understanding of the Bible and very little knowledge of their own religion? What do you think?
Some feel that their faith and religion is a private thing what do you think? Jesus didn't feel that way. He, Jesus shared and spoke about the truths his heavenly Father commissioned him to speak about. True footstep followers of Jesus do the same thing.

For me, I'm afraid of being a bad example for Christ. Like I'm going to make Him look bad if I can't answer a question.
I read a book by Kyle Idleman, though, called: not a fan that really challenged me. Am I just a "fan" of Christ? Or am I a "follower". Because followers MOVE. They just don't sit on the sidelines and cheer.
I'm still not sure what to "do". And I'm not very good at talking to people face-to-face about Jesus...or anything, really.

I'm not afraid. I 100% believe in Jesus.
There are a lot of anti-religious people though who are quite rabid and ready to attack as soon as you mention God, or the Bible, or religion. It just gets a little old. Even when there's nothing to attack, some of them start up nasty threads just to stir trouble, and I don't want to engage with them.

That's the wise course. Not to get engaged with negative, argumentative, persons who want to debate. It would be easier for them to simply bypass a religious post rather than cause drama....The "where there is no wood for the fire, the fire goes out" can be applied to those of us who want to remain peaceful. Thank you for your response and you are absolutely right.

@itslikethistome Intelligent people like to debate. Others go with the flow without asking questions. Which way is the one that proves that you are exercising free will?

I remember the day when I came face to face with my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. When I get back home I was excited of what had happened to me in my heart that my housemates have noticed it. I didn't talk much about it but little bylittle, they saw some changes in my character. I used to have a very bad character and when I come to know Jesus, everything changed. However, there are still times when I am fearful of letting others know about my faith. This is one that I have to overcome and be ready always to let others know of the love of God that is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. Or else, I will be disobedient to the heavenly calling.
