Why Did tsu Shut Down?

Yesterday I posted about the social networking site tsu having apparently shut down. The question is, though, why did it do so? The message on the site itself isn't clear. Heck, it's not even obvious whether or not the site is permanently gone. Prior to the site closing, there was a major competition running on it. Mere hours before it apparently shut, the front end had a major revamp. Neither of these things suggest a site on its way out. Was it forced to shut down for some reason? Many users posted content they did not own in order to earn money; this can cause companies problems. Why is the reason for the shut down not made clear? Could this also be due to a forced closure, not a voluntary one? Maybe time will bring more details. Image: Freeimages.com

That's a bummer the site didn't give you all a heads up!

Although shutdowns aren't generally known in advance, there are usually signs. Tsu wasn't showing anything obvious on those lines.

@infatuatedbby Generally, yes - I had been a member for the best part of two years and only made a bit over $5. However, some were cashing out monthly or better.

@egdcltd But wasn't earning on TSU hard enough so it took members long time to cash out?

It could have been a forced closure because if the hosting company received many complaints they would be inclined to cancel the agreement.

I have been wondering if something like that might have been the case. Although I can't see why they wouldn't have said that was the reason.

@egdcltd They would not have the option because the hosting site would just cut the link without warning.

@Asylum There's a message up on the site though, so they could still have given the reason why.

It is true TSU has been shut down. I do not know why.

And hot on the heels of this, ChatAbout seems to be gone without warning too. And there's even less information on their site than there is at Tsu.

I guess quite a few people were on that. I hadn't heard of it. I know that the majority of businesses tend to fail, but it's hard when you've put time and effort in, expecting money back, only to not get it.

@Gina145 I've been a member of myLot for quite some time, but hadn't been active until recently, when someone posted on tsu that the site was paying again.

@egdcltd In terms of interaction you didn't miss much. myLot is a much nicer site than ChatAbout ever was, and it's a site I'd considered leaving anyway. Unfortunately I didn't cash out when I could, but I guess I should count myself lucky that I only lost $5.
