Yes, Virginia, There is Teleportation Never before this year did I believe that there could be such a thing as teleportation - the moving of your body from here to there by willpower alone or something akin to that. We had a graduation coming up of one of our grandkids. She was a pretty good student who was rightfully proud of getting through high school in one piece. As a consequence, she wanted Grandma and Grandpa to witness the big graduation ceremony. But we could not attend for a number of reasons - but the whole deal was broadcast on local television and, thence, to the Internet. By simply clicking on a switch or two, we could be there, front and center, to watch and listen to the whole thing. The photo, above, was one I made from our old TV set of our grandkid getting her diploma. Just a wee bit of modern magic to make the old folks really happy. Kindly notice that we were teleported right up onto the stage. Image source: Gus Kilthau

You got me there, Gus! You are right though. But how i wish there really is a teleportation device so I could be anywhere I want to be right this very moment without having to pay for expensive tickets.

@toniganzon - Ms Toni - As I recall, I landed on the moon back in the summer of 1969 in much the same way that I got up there on the graduation platform with the graduating class this year. Turned on the TV, and there we were. By the way, I spotted one of those moon critters hiding behind a rock, but don't tell anyone that I told you, OK? NASA will come down on me like a truckload of bricks if you squeal on me.

Ah, yes: "the moving of (my) body from here to there by willpower alone" is what happens every weekday morning, come rain or shine, as I transport myself from home to work... Do I get a gold star?

@pgntwo - Friend PGN - There WAS a medal struck, and it bore your name and the title of the award, "PGN of the moving body earned this urn of pewter beyond reproach of any disputer" Kind of sealed the deal for me, sure enough.

That must have been great to see your granddaughter graduate, thanks to modern technology. Congratulations to her.

@jaboUK - Ms Janet - Right-on. It was good to see the kid get on with things. Lucky for us, the TV set here is an oldie and so is the camera. Thus, they synched rather nicely, the TV with its "30-cycling" and the old camera with its slow shutter speed that permitted the whole TV screen to imprint. As you and I have both learned, "old works OK if you let it."
