My opinion about Stephen King

First of all, I do not hate Stephen King, actually I think he wrote some goods creations. However, his novels get me bored. Because they have a lot of paragraphs just to describe things that really are not interesting. It seems like he only write to fill the empty space. One of those is "Storm of the century", I finish read this this book and then I think it was a waste of time. The history was good, but I think it would be more short and still would not lose anything. Otherwise, I like his mini novels and short stories, I think they are much interesting than his novels.

I don't like Stephen King books. Horror is not my thing, life is terrifying enough. I have read some of his books. He is a skilled writer and adds fascinating details and descriptions as the story unfolds. I just don't like the endings. I don't like evil stuff.

@Hackmilitant I never read that one, either. I read some of his old books, Misery, Thinner, etc.

One of my favorites books of him is 4 Seasons, that one is not about horror and is so interesting.

My daughter and I are Stephen King fans. You know just like with some restaurants the food starts out really good but as the population increases the taste and quality decreases maybe that is what is happening with him and the fact that he is getting older might add to it but I will check out those books and let you know what I think.

@akalinus Yes it is horror topic but I do not recommend to you to read, it is boring. My favorite one of Stephen King is 4 Seasons, is a collection of mini novels.

I completely agree with you about Storm of the Century. The movie wasn't much better. Do me a favor and read "11/22/63" and tell me what you think. That, and his Dark Tower Series, are amazing. 11/22/63 actually is a mini series on Hulu right now that I want to watch REALLY bad.

His works of the last several decades have been generally disappointing and nowhere near the quality of his earlier novels and stories. Now he unnecessarily injects his liberal political beliefs in his fiction writings.

I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King's books either. While I read some of his books, none have transported me as other books has. He's an okay writer, just not my cup of tea.

I feel the same way. I have one of his books in my room and I can't get past the first few pages. He seriously describing a dirt road for about 4-5 pages. I don't care about the dirt road or what is on it that much to keep reading it.

Yes, I am totally convinced he is just fulfilling a word contract...his writing has gotten virtually unreadable in his later books.

I read half way through his novel "Dreamcatcher" and so much of it bored me I couldn't even finish which really sucks because I liked the concept, but so many things he was talking about needn't be in there so I gave up.

I've only read a few of his books. A couple of them are okay I think, but the last one I read was Under the Dome and I do think it's too long and contains a lot of unnecessary details.

Love and admire this writer. His book "On writing" changed my life. Okay, the Tower (the Dark Tower?) series was kind of boring.
