Wilkes-Barre Police Chief Marcella Lendacky recently shared her thoughts on how to rebuild trust between the police and the community. She said National Night Out that was celebrated on August 2, 2016 was an opportunity to address the divide between the police and the community. Lendacky said members of her department respond to crime with fairness, without regard to race, gender, or nationality. She said with an increasing number of cameras in the community, police are more accountable for their actions. Wilkes-Barre City police officers put a high priority on keeping citizens safe while serving them at the same time. What do you think of Chief Lendacky's views on improving relations between the police and the community? What is going on in your area?

About 20 years ago we had a cluster of incidents where police shot people under strange circumstances. I live in a community that is 92% white, and less than 1% African American. All of the officer and victims were white, but less affluent members of the community. There was a lot of noise about it back then, locally, nothing that anyone not from around here would have heard about. I haven't heard of anybody being shot by the cops around here lately, so I guess things have improved.

Have things improved with Police and community relations where I live in Dallas TX? Don't know and don't care... Because I'm not so dumb as to think words will magically fix everything... Especially since it's always been that way. This sort of turmoil is part of a natural cycle that no one can break. They say they will, but that's to pacify the angry empty-headed masses. Because this'll die down for a few months to a year, then another shooting will occur to start this mess all over again... The powers that be gotta keep these sheep in line somehow...
