Cleaning my fridge day

Ugh, I decided today was the day was going to clean out all the dead fruits and veggies in my fridge. I have started that part already. I took the two drawers out and threw away what is past its peak. I now know that 4 weeks is too long for strawberries to stay fresh in a jar lol. I plan to take out all the shelves and clean out any leftovers that I find. It has been a while since I tackled this job so it is pretty bad. I am not sure if this is late spring cleaning or early fall cleaning. Have you got any chores on the agenda today? Photo is not my fridge!!

Since retirement I have no need to stock much because I am out every day, so my fridge rarely has outdated food.

@BelleStarr If I dine out I never take anything back home, so that would not happen to me.

I clean my fridge more often so I don“t lose so much and cleaning up is not such an unpleasent task. But that is mainly because I buy small amounts of veggies and I freeze many of them. As for fruits, I only use them for smoothies so strawberries are safe and hard as stones When I clean up my fridge, I make what I call a paella of sorts (not a real one). I cut up all the veggies I can save, fry onion and said veggies and place them aside. Then I fry rice, add water and the berries and cook them while I finish cleaning. Yummy!

The only chores that we did today was gather up the garbage and drop it off at the refuse station. And the workers took the bags from my husband and quickly opened them up. My husband instructed them that both bags were garbage-but they continued to rummage thru them. It made us a little cross since there could be mail in the bags with more information in it then they need to know. We usually shred things up, but I cannot be sure that we did such a great job on that. How gross to go thru garbage bags!

I can't imagine why they ahd to go through the bags and yes I would be concerned about unshredded mail!!

That's what I've been thinking every time I look at the shoe rack in my home... But it's not my shoes that make it look bad, it's because I have four boys and a couple of them are active in sports!

I've been feeling the need to do that for some time now. It is a yucky chore for a Saturday, but it's getting pretty crowded in there so I will have to get it done. Thanks for the inspiration!

With my mom here ours gets cleaned out more than it did before LOL We just have to make sure to get the trash out right away because the animals get in to it. Oh I can't wait until my husband finally tackles the job of getting the garbage disposal replaced.

I buy far too much and then waste it. I'm quite ashamed at some of the gross things I pull out of my fridge at times. Cream cheese with green mould on it seems to be a favourite!

@BelleStarr I think a lot of us do. My granddaughter likes something one week and then goes off it the next so it gets wasted.

Do you realize how much money you are throwing away by buying too much food in the first place?

It isn't that I buy too much it is more that I don't get around to using what I buy. I don't cook at home much but since we have kids popping in out of our house all the time, we need to be prepared. I guess I can afford to waste a little so I don't worry about it.

Have fun. The fridge is perhaps the last thing that gets cleaned when I move. I do try to clean it a couple times a year, but it is not something I enjoy doing. The stove shares equal billing for cleaning enjoyment.
