Jeff Fletcher reports the news the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have designated for assignment right handed starting pitcher Tim Lincecum on Saturday. Lincecum will replaced on the Angels 25 man active roster by right handed pitcher Jose Valdez who was pitching for the Salt Lake Bees which is the AAA minor league team of the Angels. Lincecum has pitched for the San Francisco Giants from 2007-2015 before he signed a free agent contract of one season with the Angels on May 19, 2016. Lincecum's pitching record with the Angels was two wins and six losses in nine starts with an earned run average of 9.16 which was one reason he was designated for assignment on Saturday. It is not likely that will be another team in the Major Leagues that will want to add Lincecum on their roster before the end of the current baseball season. Lincecum has the option of returning to the minor leagues or join the free agent market to see if he can pitch in the Major Leagues again before the 2016 baseball season ends.

Lincecum was horrendous and it looks like his career is over. He is not even that old and he simply lost it several seasons ago. But he will walk away with 2 Cy Youngs and 3 World Series rings.

I am sure that Tim has no regrets playing in the Major League for as long as he did. The old saying is true. "Sobering truth and eternal hope."
