Why did Jesus say: "Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens....."?

Why were some who called out or said "Lord Lord" disapproved by Jesus? (Matthew 7:21).

If you read the whole verse, the answer is on the next phrase: "but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven". Jesus in His human flesh is pointing out a very big lesson, which is also pointed out by James when he said, "be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your ownselves."

I have read the whole verse as well as the whole chapter.....Jesus was putting those on guard who thought they were doing God's will, but really were not....He called them workers of lawlessness, the wicked religious Pharisees and Sadducees because they were doing everything but what God commanded them to do.....They refused to accept Jesus as God's son and appointed King. They also refused to do the work that Jesus commissioned his followers to do which was to preach about God's Kingdom of the heavens (Matthew 24:14)
These hypocritical religious leaders were quick to say boast on themselves and set their own religious agenda, rather than God's interests. They actually made the Word of God invalid with their traditions and own understandings (Mark 7:6-13) These haughty religious leaders "honored God with their lips, but their hearts were FAR removed from God". Jesus in essence said that they were simply giving "lip service" and nothing more. The things they did, they did to impress people with their head knowledge and their mock humility........ That's a lesson for us ALL. If we are not following the example of Jesus Christ and the way he took the message of hope, the good news about God's Kingdom to the people from his heavenly Father, then we are can be likened to "modern day Pharisees and Saducees" in God and Jesus' eyes, from their standpoint.
