The October Surprise – will it happen and who goes down – Trump or Clinton?

I assume you’ve all heard of the “October Surprise,” the political phenomenon that could take down either Trump or Clinton, maybe both, just before the election. October surprises happen when someone somehow uncovers something so sleazy and shattering that the outcome of the Presidential election can be affected, toppling a candidate or at the least, significantly compromising their chances of winning, when there is little time left to try and fix things. It could actually happen this year, especially with two such distasteful, baggage-ridden candidates. WikiLeaks is rumored to have another bomb or two ready to drop on Hillary, and I’m sure the Democrats are working just as diligently to uncover something equally deadly on Trump. So for now, it’s way too soon to say who will win in November, despite Clinton’s recent surge in the polls and Trump’s recent slump. A lot can change in the next few months. Image: Pixabay

This certainly is going to be one of the dirtiest campaigns in history.

It sure is. I'm actually a little afraid to see what might happen in October. I have a feeling some really ugly stuff is going to happen.

I still think there's a possibility they both go down in favor of a third-party candidate. There are a lot of Democrats who don't like Hillary and a lot of Republicans who don't like Trump, so they can easily combine to put a third-party candidate in the White House.

It would take something enormous and highly unlikely for a third party candidate to get the required Electoral Votes. If no candidate gets 270 the current House of Representatives gets to choose our next President and I SURE don't want that!

You could be right. Some conservative guy was mentioned today who is planning on entering the election, and Libertarian Gary Johson is picking up some steam.

A lot can happen at the last minute as we decide between two evils.

I think it's more like it's between one truly evil snake and a human being who's made mistakes but isn't evil at all. I think the voters have already come to that conclusion in large number so it would take a really huge "October surprise" to make a difference.

@LindaCPearson Yes, I've heard of it. You present some points on who will play dirtier between the two candidates. Or much better, who will be found truthful and honest on who they really are in the American public court of judges. We'll find out and see.
