Friday Afternoon: Spades Tournament

I’ve got some friends coming over Friday afternoon for a Spades Tournament. We plan to play Spades all evening. Do you like to play Spades? Do you know what Spades is? It’s a card game and it’s a LOT of fun. Challenging. We will have some food and drinks and enjoy our tournament. I don’t really care who wins. I just enjoy the company and the game. I LOVE to play Bridge, but I do not know of a single person in my circle of friends who knows how to play Bridge. My parents were VERY good Bridge players. They taught me how to play years ago.

@IreneVincent it seems its a dying card game as well - we have a very small circle of ladies that play on a Thursday morning

@Inlemay Yes, I haven't heard much about Bridge in ages. There used to be a column in the newspaper about it.

We play Backalley which is very similar to spades except the trump changes and we go down from 13 cards to 1 card and then back up. We play it all the time in Florida with my husband's brother and his wife.It sounds like a fun day.

That game is called "Oh Hell" in "The Book of Hoyle" We play that game all the time. Love it. I think I like your name of the game better though.

It's a fairly easy card game, but there is some strategy involved of course.
