Some people love diving. Going around underwater where you are surrounded by unbreathable liquid. A metal tank of breathable gas is all that's keeping you alive. Some love exploring caves. Going around labyrinths and mazes with nothing to guide you, in pitch black darkness with only a torch in hand. Get lost, and it could even mean death. Well, why not take these two things and mash them together? Sounds like a great idea, right? Introducing cave diving! Exploring tiny cramped flooded underwater cave systems. The water crushes you down. Darkness blinds you. Unknown creatures lurk in the shadows. All you have to fight against these, are your oxygen tank and a waterproof torch. Then you're all alone. Time to break the atmosphere. Some people actually enjoy doing this! I'm a little claustrophobic and would hate to be trapped underwater in a small network of tunnels. So no, although it may be very interesting and I am the adventurous type, I wouldn't try this! What about you, and why?

Though I'm a good swimmer I've never liked swimming under water, so no this would not be for me either.

If you are able to see and breathe then the experience is totally different. I've been a keen diver for years and yet people laugh at me because I don't like getting my face wet!

I would love to do it; I am an experienced diver of many years and I have also done a reasonable amount of caving. Two things have held me back: 1. I like life too much, and 2. I am too lazy. Because you can't just pop a tank on your back and jump into the nearest hole in the ground. Most cave systems are in fairly inaccessible places and you may have to carry all your equipment up mountain paths then crawl for miles through regular caves before getting to the flooded parts, spending days planning what equipment is required and then transporting it all to the cave entrance before you can even start. I'm afraid I have to content myself with reading about other people's adventures, such as leading British cave diver Martyn Farr.

I'm not happy with closed spaces for too long. I wonder if I could suck it up and enjoy the experience.
