Jeff Todd reported the news on Friday the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have claimed off waivers former Miami Marlins left handed pitcher Cody Ege. Ege was designated for assignment by the Marlins three days ago. To make room for Ege on the Angels 40 man roster the team has moved right handed pitcher Nick Tropeano to the 60 day disabled list. Tropeano will miss the remainder of the 2016 baseball season since he will have surgery to repair an injury to his right elbow. Ege only pitched in five games for the Marlins during the 2016 baseball season which was his first year pitching in the Major League Baseball level since he was a 15th round draft choice of the Texas Rangers in the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft out of the University of Louisville. The Rangers traded Ege and catcher Tomas Tellis to the Miami Marlins on July 31, 2015 in exchange for relief pitcher Sam Dyson. Ege will be sent to the Angels AAA minor league team the Salt Lake City Bees this year so can improve his chances to make it to the Major Leagues in the near future.

The Angels pitching situation is so depleted and awful that they keep picking up guys off the garbage heap.
