Best laptop..suggestion

My laptop has become very old. This is Lenovo Brand. I purchased it in the year 2000. Till date, I am using the same laptop. Recently I had to change the keyboard as the letters worn out completely. Now, I am thinking whether to go for a new one or not? If I want to purchase should I exchange my laptop for a new one or keeping this one as it is shall I purchase a new one? In either case, friends please suggest me a good brand. I heard that HP is very nice.
