Jordan Bastian reports the news on Saturday that Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said outfielder Michael Barntley will have surgery on his shoulder on Monday.
Brantley has only played in 11 games for the Indians during the 2016 baseball season due to injuries to his bicep and shoulder.
It is likely that the surgery on Brantley's shoulder will end his season with the Indians since the Indians management is hoping that the surgery will give time to Brantley to have a full recovery and be able to play baseball for the 2017 baseball season..
Branltley will be replaced by Indians outfielder Rajai Davis for the remainder of the 2016 baseball season.
Brantley has played his entire career with the Cleveland Indians since he made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2009.

They had hopes of him returning in September. However, Cleveland is doing great without him.

That is one reason the team will place him on the shelf for now.
