Accidents and more accidents.

I just read in a state of shock a post that @Marty1 wrote about a toddler who fell off a roller coaster. A couple of months ago (maybe less) I read here about a child who had fallen in a tiger´s (or lion´s) den at a zoo.
There are culprits. Yes. And there are young victims who will be scarred for life.
I think law should punish parents but they also have to punish people who work at those places and don´t take proper measures to protect the young children.
I will not accept any excuse, such as that it had never happened before. Nothing happens until it does.
That´s why we don´t leave meds or chlorine within reach of the children. And that´s why knives are placed high in the shelves.
Your thoughts?

If I cannot go with them and if I cannot make sure that that child can be buckled safely, I would not take my child. And at that age, the child must go with the parent.

@marguicha I agree with you and like you said, a 3 yr old should be with a parent on any rides.

And keeping children safe from that does not require any special effort.

To be honest, we don't know all of the facts, and as such we can't really determine whether this was the fault of the park for not securing the kids in the ride correctly (or ignoring the park's minimum height rules, with those signs that say "you must be at least this tall to ride this"), or if it was a case of the kid unstrapping himself, ignoring the ride rules or something else. It's like all of these protests after police-involved shootings in America: everyone jumps to conclusions without waiting for the facts (and, in over 95% of the cases, the shootings are proven by the facts to be justified).
Meanwhile, there are, on average, 37 kids killed every year by being left in a hot car by their parents. Even though there are laws about such things, parents are rarely charged. But you never hear about those cases because our media doesn't sensationalize it.
I assure you, in this sue-happy country of ours, if the amusement parks were found at fault, however slightly, there will be a lawsuit. In fact, I'd be genuinely surprised if there's not a long line of lawyers outside the front doors of the parents of the children injured or killed in recent weeks.

The words about height rules are notmeant to be read by the toddlers. They are meant to be read by the parents. At Disneyworld, years ago, there were games with a minimum height requisite. There was a bar and a guard there. The child had to step there so that the guard accepted him or not. The parent did not have a say on that.
And in the case of the 3 year old at the roller coaster, there must be a rule about children going with an adult. So even if they have the required height, they will not be able to unstrap themselves.

Some people are really to brave watching some kids putting their children and not their children in extreme situations like in the rides or riding in motorcycle. I even see some father letting their 4 to 8 years old holding the handle of the motorcycle while driving in the national road.
