What do people think about this Russian who has just died in London?

For those who don't know the full story, a Russian critic of Putin, who had sought asylum in London, has died from radioactive polonium poisoning. On his death bed he accused the Russian government and President Putin of killing him.
It's like something spooky and sinister out of the cold war. Isn't it disgraceful that this sort of thing is still happening?

Considering it is about the Russian government, I am not surprised. They haven't changed at all, just gone a bit underground. We just don't hear about these things much anymore. But, they are up to their old trips. Sorry, but I never have trusted the Russian government. Old enemies die hard. Just goes to show you if they want you bad enough, they will find you.

Well initially I thought it was the Russian government who had done the killing (hence my intro to this thread), but now I'm not so sure. I think if the Russian government had been involved, the assasination would have happened in a low-key way.
We don't actually know too much about Litvienenko. It appears he was in the nuclear smuggling trade, and hence his poisoning by polonium.
I do agree with you that Russian society as a whole seems to be corrupt to it's little toes.

wow, smuggler...maybe he actually poisoned him self. Either that he crossed the Russia government and they STILL poisoned him.
You make me work to hard in here. LOL I love your topics though. First the EU, now I want to see if I can figure out who poisoned this guy.

It seems like a storyline from some spy movie plot. I don't know but I find the story believable.

maybe he thought it would go unnoticed or the guy would die before he could point the finger. It could be he wanted to send a message that he was capable of poisoning others who defied him no matter where they went. Definitely spy material.
