Do reviewers in well-known sites get paid?

In sites like tripadvisor or amazon, there are reviewers with hundreds of posts. I wonder whether they get paid for that. Otherwise, I could not imagine why someone would invest this crazy amount of effort.

Amzaon Review Traders offer discounted and even free items to members for an honest review in return. So that could possible be where some of the reviews come from, however the terms state that in your review, you have to state that you were offer a discount or given a free item for an honest review.

Someone must be paying them! I know witg Amazon vine they just give you the free products that you test and that is considered their payment.

I've done reviews for both of these sites but not been paid. It's just a guide for other people to let them know what you thought of a product or a holiday/accommodation. I like doing them so I don't mind putting in a little effort.

I've reviewed some items I sent for at Amazon. No it doesn't pay. Just to share feedback. I don't invest a crazy amount of effort though, lol.
