My kids go back to school on the 23rd. I am not ready for them to go back already. I really enjoy them being home with me all summer. My house is going ti be so quiet and lonely.
We didn't get to do much this summer with my sister sick and needing help after having her baby.
Right now I am sitting and having my coffee and finishing a book I am reading by a local author. Its called "The Battle for Andrea Maria" by Holly Copella.
We are going shopping in a few hours to get school clothes and for the kids to spend their money from their yard sale.

I still have nightmares about having to go back to school;/...school was...just something...I did not like. It was odd that I did so much university after but then again...it was subjects I wanted to study.

@HebrewGreekStudies @Genipher I started kindergarten only 2 or 3 days after I turned 5. I stuggled for half the school year crying every day after a few hours that the hours were to long and I wanted to go home. I struggled all through school I think looking back I would have done better being homeschooled.

@Genipher I asked my parents for that as well, and like you, they would not. In a very real sense, I still view that structure of education as an impediment to the well being of my academic career.

I use the video games as incentive. Especially for my eldest son (he's 9). If he gets his lessons done for the day, he gets "x" amount of time on the computer. Though sometimes I make him save it up for the weekends.
So, you could use it in your favor.

My kids are all grown up so our house is quite except for when the grandkids come ..

Both of my kids are now grown so our house is always pretty quiet except for when Bella barks at people on the walking trail. I remember those days when my kids were at home and I didn't particularly care for shopping for school clothes or supplies as it could get so expensive, especially for a single Mom.

Yes it is expensive. I've bought my daughter shorts and jeans for $20. I've never spent over $6 on ones for myself. I just hate the time it takes trying to find something my daughter likes and then having to try them on and see what fits. Its time consuming.

I heard our kids go back after Labor Day. It always seems so early when the kids go back in August.

It's always hard when the kids go back to school. Enjoy your shopping and your book!

I just never expect it to bother me so much now that they aren't going off to school for the first time... My son is going into third and my daughter is going into 7th.

I love reading. I will have plenty of time to read while the kids are in school. Only three more days now.

What's your book about?
It's always kind of an exciting time getting ready for the new school year. Going to look for the clothes and whatever supplies they need to take. That's neat yours have their yard sale money to chip in.
Are you going to have any special projects to keep you busy when your kids are back in school? I was working when mine went to school, but I might have thought of doing some artwork or something different to keep myself occupied.I have a friend who used to do volunteer and docent type stuff. Of course nowdays there's myLot, you can join us all day!

I do little things online through the year while they are at school like paid surverys, product testing sites, and of course mylotting. I save the money up all year to do things in the summer with my kids.
Once in awhile I go out geocaching or something but I feel guilty spending gas to do things for myself like that so I don't do it very often.

I absolutely hate shopping so this was no fun for any of us. We stopped at an ice cream place before coming home. 17th one this summer. After they go back to school our visits will stop. We are going to one tomorrow and I think based on the amount of days left we might make it to 20.

This is something I just can't help feeling sad about even though them going off to school is perfectly normal. I can't keep them home with me forever.

when kids are in school, we have that precious time off, but when you miss them, you would want to pull the time like a rope so they come home to you

What a sweet way of looking at it. Yes I wish I was able to pull a rope shorter to get them home earlier when they are in school.
